Cutting down the cherry trees
The Hyde Park Town Board in their infinite wisdom OK'd cutting down some signature cherry trees in front of Town Hall Wednesday morning. The rationale is they were diseased but a few local residents weren't buying it. Among them was town historian Carney Rhinevault and his wife Tatiana. But down they went and it looks like they were never there. We'll be looking a little further into the story for next week's paper. Unlike George Washington, I'm not convinced Tom Martino doesn't ;lie.

What?!? I LOVED those trees! They were beautiful, and let's face it, Route 9 as it runs through Hyde Park could really use a little beautification!
Any chance they'll be replaced ?
