Arlen Specter Spineless Switch
The announcement that Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter was switching parties tells you what a whore he is. This clown knows he was going to lose the Republican primary to the more conservative and more Repulican Congressman Pat Toomey. So rather than take the beating he so richly deserves, he slithers over to the Democrats. what a sleaze. Hopefully he'll still get his ass kicked by Toomey in the general election.

Arlen Spector a whore? Just the thought of him in hot pants and a tube top is enough to keep us all chaste. At least until 2010.
Yes, the Senator wants to remain a Senator. Nothing wrong in him running again if the people of PA want him.
But you are being unfair, Jim, when you accuse him of sleaze. Think about what he really said: the Republican party leadership is recklessly committing itself to an extreme minority of its base. This base, with the sophistication of one's typical junior high school pep squad, has made it clear that Sen. Spector is not welcome in their clique.
Seems to me that he was thrown out of the Republican party by virtue of the very real prospect of being publicly opposed in the next primary elections - by his own party.
As noted above: he wants to remain a Senator. Just as Joe-mentum Lieberman. As Mr. Bloomberg wanted to become Mayor. I mean, it's not as if a bar code is tattooed on one's forehead forever designating one's political party.
Switching parties is not necessarily a symbol of wanton, steamy, feckless ambition. In this case it is a matter of preparing for the coming electoral race - made easier to swallow because, again as noted above, some of the girls and guys on his side of the aisle were really catty and not nice to him at all.
So instead of whimpering out of office, this cancer survivor is fighting back. More power to him. That is, if that is the will of the PA electorate.
