Bobby Kennedy
It's been almost 40 years since Bobby Kennedy was assassinated at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles after winning the California primary. I remember him and that campaign well. I just finished reading a piece on Bobby in this month's Vanity Fair magazine. It's a thoughtful and provacative look at Kennedy and his tortured path to running for president. But it still leaves us with the one question nobody can ever answer to everyone's satisfaction. Was Bobby the wistful heir to Camelot intent on finishing his brother's work and ending the Vietnam war or simply a ruthless opportunist who only got into the '68 race after Gene McCarthy almost beat LBJ in New Hampshire. What are your thoughts?

He was the last guy who could bring white hard hats and minorities together. We would be living in a different world had he lived.
